Post-doctoral Fellow

PhD

Field of Research

  1. Development of HPLC–MS/MS‑based analytical methods for untargeted and targeted metabolomics and metabolic flux analysis;

  2. Discovery and mechanistic investigation of serum metabolic biomarkers in obesity and obesity‑associated diabetes;

  3. Elucidation of the roles and mechanisms of metabolites and metabolic enzymes in brown adipose tissue thermogenesis;

Biography

Dr. Ru Yi obtained his PhD from the State Key Laboratory of Environmental and Biological Analysis at Hong Kong Baptist University, where he focused on the development and application of mass spectrometry‑based analytical methods in metabolomics. He has established a series of novel methods for the qualitative and quantitative analysis of small‑molecule metabolites, including sulfur‑containing metabolites, carbohydrate metabolites, and acylglycines, and has developed metabolic flux analysis methods for arginine metabolism and gluconeogenesis. In 2025, Dr. Ru joined the State Key Laboratory of Pharmaceutical Biotechnology at The University of Hong Kong. His current research focuses on elucidating the roles and mechanisms of metabolites and metabolic enzymes in the development of obesity and obesity‑associated diabetes, as well as uncovering new functions and regulatory mechanisms of metabolites in thermogenic adipose tissues.
