Biography:
Miss HUANG Piaopiao is currently a PhD student in the Department of Medicine, Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine, The University of Hong Kong. She obtained her Master’s degree in Clinical Medicine (Cardiovascular Medicine) from Central South University in 2023, and her Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Medicine from Chongqing Medical University in 2020.

Explore the influence of small molecule hormones on metabolic diseases
Biography:
Qiuping Wu is a PhD student at the University of Hong Kong. Her current research focuses on investigating the roles of novel small-molecule hormones in metabolic diseases. She obtained her Master’s degree from Shenzhen University between 2017 and 2020, where her research centered on exploring the potential effects of bioactive components derived from traditional Chinese medicine in Alzheimer’s disease.

Ms. Chenxin Xu is currently a PhD student at the Department of Medicine, the University of HongKong. Her work integrates cohort-driven omics analyses with wet-lab investigations using animal and cellular models to elucidate the mechanisms of diabetic kidney disease.

Biography:
Mr. YI Xinyao is currently a PhD student at the Department of Medicine, Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine, The University of Hong Kong. He obtained his BEng from Hubei University of Technology and his MSc from Xi’an Jiaotong University. His research focuses on metabolic and immunological regulations in cancer and cancer-associated cachexia.

Biography:
Ms. Chen Yinghui is currently a PhD student in the Department of Medicine, Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine, The University of Hong Kong. She received Master’s degree from Shanghai Jiao Tong University and was awarded the Shanghai Outstanding Graduate title. Her research focuses on cardiac developmental biology and cardiovascular diseases, particularly the molecular mechanisms underlying pathological cardiac hypertrophy and diabetes-related metabolic cardiovascular diseases. She has led the University Student Innovation Training Program (Project No. 2017A70319) and participated in multiple National Natural Science Foundation of China General Programs (Project Nos. 82170304, 82170232).

Biography:
Mr. Qianxing Hu is currently a PhD student at the Faculty of Medicine, The University of Hong Kong. He obtained his Master's degree from the State Key Laboratory of Natural Medicines, School of Life Sciences, China Pharmaceutical University, under the supervision of Prof. Liang Jin. He received his Bachelor's degree from Jiangnan University. His research interests focus on metabolic diseases, with particular emphasis on amino acid metabolites, metabolic syndrome, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, and pancreatic-related metabolic regulation.

Biography:
Ms. LI Xin is a PhD student in the Department of Medicine at the University of Hong Kong. Trained at Huazhong University of Science & Technology (M.S.) and Chongqing Medical University (B.S.), she now researches metabolic diseases, focusing on the critical link between cholesterol and bile acid metabolism. Her project centers on the hepatic β‑Klotho signaling pathway and its function in maintaining cholesterol homeostasis. By employing genetic and cellular models, she seeks to reveal new mechanisms and therapeutic opportunities for cardiometabolic diseases.

Zara Chui is currently a PhD student at the State Key Lab of Pharmaceutical Biotechnology, The University of Hong Kong under the full support of the HKU-Presidential Scholarship (HKU-PS), Butterfield Croucher Studentship and the Sir Edward Youde Memorial Fellowship. She obtained her bachelor’s degree in biomedical sciences at the University of Hong Kong in 2024, and was awarded with Innovation and Technology Scholarship and Undergraduate Research Fellowship. She has secured multiple research grants and played a substantive role in patent filings related to her translational work.

Ms. Xiaobing Lu earned her Bachelor of Medicine in Clinical Medicine from Shenzhen University and her Master of Medicine in Internal Medicine from Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine. She is currently a Ph.D. student at the Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine, The University of Hong Kong. Her doctoral research focuses on the crosstalk between metabolism and inflammation, with a particular interest in deciphering the immune-signaling pathways that drive metaflammation in metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD)

Her current research focuses on how dietary patterns and dynamic changes in nutrient availability regulate metabolic flexibility, energy balance, and obesity beyond caloric intake alone.

Development of recombinant protein expression systems and high-sensitivity assays for neurodegenerative disease research, with an emphasis on producing high-quality protein reagents for downstream applications. Advancing proximity extension technologies to enable sensitive and specific detection of Alzheimer’s disease biomarkers, aiming to enhance biomarker quantification and improve clinical diagnostics.
Biography:
Li Qiqi received her undergraduate degree from Queen Mary University of London and completed a Master’s degree at The University of Hong Kong. She is a researcher with expertise in recombinant protein expression and assay development for neurodegenerative disease research. She works with the Expicho expression system to express and optimize recombinant proteins for various experimental and analytical applications. In addition, Li Qiqi develops proximity extension technologies dedicated to the sensitive detection and characterization of Alzheimer’s disease related targets.
